Ascension of Our Lord Parish Mission Statement

We, the Spiritual Family of the Ascension of Our Lord Parish, desire to be a beacon of hope to the Kensington community and a safe haven where all are welcomed.

We acknowledge that through Baptism each one has a special mission in our parish. This mission is to follow in Jesus' footsteps, and to spread the good news to all we meet. To do this we resolve to reach all people of our ever-growing multi-cultural community, and to invite them:

...To worship and celebrate together and develop a loving relationship with God by proclaiming our faith in Jesus Christ;

...To accept each person as an image of Christ, the light of the world;

...To be mindful of each persons physical and spiritual needs;

...To nourish the importance of Catholic family values and to educate our children in the teachings of Jesus Christ;

...To work for social justice and mercy in our community;

...To be like St. Joseph in sharing our time, talents, and material blessings in love of neighbor;

...To strive for non-violence in our everyday personal lives and in the in the life of our parish.

We graciously accept the changing dynamics within our parish and the unique challenges that arise from our inability to resolve them without God's help. We acknowledge our dependence on the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in praying for our guidance and strength to achieve God's will in all things.

We also call on Mary, Mother of the church, to keep an ever watchful and caring eye upon the Ascension Parish, as we strive to carry out the mission of Jesus Christ. We ask Mary, with Her maternal intercession, to instill that same love and devotion she gave to Jesus to her adopted children here at the Ascension of Our Lord Parish.
